Reporterfabrik – An online academy for journalism

Project Overview:
Want to improve your communication skills? Or learn more about traditional and social media? The “Reporterfabrik” (literally: reporter factory) is an online school for journalism, open to everyone interested, which provides a wide range of learning material: from professional writing, blogging, researching, interviewing, debating and photography to videos –online workshops cost between 5 and 25 euros.
“Readers are changing faster than we do”, said Cordt Schnibben in 2015, the chief editor of Spiegel magazine’s cultural section. Three years later, alongside David Schraven, managing director of the non-profit research centre CORRECTIV e.V., he founded the Reporterfabrik, a project that intends to smooth and shape everybody’s way into the editorial community.
The Reporterfabrik wants to foster the professional training of journalists and the general public, to improve their use of new digital possibilities of research, storytelling and publishing. The team behind the Reporterfabrik contacted us in 2018 in order to set up an LMS where they can offer their professional knowledge within online courses to their target audience. In spring 2019, the Reporterfabrik was supplemented by the „Bürgerakademie for Media Competence“ as a sister project, which is more strongly oriented towards the educational interests of citizens.
