Frontend Developer!

Location: Berlin or/ Remote
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance frontend features for Open edX–based platforms, including work with the Open edX Microfrontend Architecture.
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, backend developers, and product teams to deliver responsive, accessible, and visually engaging interfaces.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise frontend performance across devices and browsers.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code following industry best practices.
- Stay up to date with Open edX releases, frontend frameworks, and emerging web technologies.
- Profile and analyse API calls or database queries that impact frontend performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience with Open edX frontend development (XBlocks, Microfrontends, LMS, Studio).
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, jQuery, React, Redux, Node,js HTML5, and CSS3.
- Experience integrating frontend components with RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with build tools (Webpack, npm, etc.).
- Familiarity with Git, branching workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross‑browser compatibility.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues across complex systems and contribute to performance improvements.
- Strong written and reading skills in English (German and/or Italian are a plus).
Bachelor’s degree in Web Development, Computer Science, or a similar qualification (or equivalent experience).
Bonus Points
Experience with backend technologies relevant to Open edX, especially:
- Python / Django framework
- Understanding of Open edX backend architecture
